Job Summary: The Director of Online and Annual Giving will oversee the general fund and stewardship processes for the Grameen Foundation. The candidate will have in-depth experience in online giving and direct mail solicitation, knowledge of donor database management, as well as excellent interpersonal, writing, proofreading and organizational skills. Responsibilities include creating and implementing online and direct mail fundraising campaigns, researching, identifying, cultivating and upgrading annual giving donors; drafting letters and short proposals; overseeing the gift acknowledgment process; supervising staff and assisting with additional donor communications.

Reporting and relationships: The Director of Online and Annual Giving will report to the Vice President of External Affairs and supervise a Development Associate and Database Coordinator and other support staff when designated.

Availability: The Director of Online and Annual Giving is expected to work a typical work week of 37.5 hours plus additional hours as necessary to get the job done. The position may require travel within the US and abroad.

Essential Job Functions:

    • Direct the strategy and implementation of Grameen Foundation’s online and direct mail fundraising programs;
    • Manage a portfolio of mid-range donors, serving as their primary relationship manager, including leading major gift officers in the strategy to upgrade donors to be major contributors; conduct in-person solicitations as needed;
    • Spearhead efforts to identify new donor prospects for the general fund and steward existing donors through initiatives such as donor events, volunteer fundraisers, and corporate employee giving programs;
    • Direct all aspects of GF’s participation in the Combined Federal Campaign;
    • Create and implement ways to leverage new media, such as social networking sites and blogs, to engage existing and new donors;
    • Create fundraising strategies in conjunction with selected regional program staff to support their budgets;
    • Oversee the gift acknowledgement process and ensure timely acknowledgement of gifts;
    • Write reports to donors as needed and ensure their timely submission;
    • Track and report on the progress of the James & Betty Sams (Annual) Fund, through regular updates for department and board meetings;
    • Oversee donor database management to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient workflow;
    • Perform ongoing assessment of donors’ needs to ensure the donor experience is customer-service oriented;
    • In conjunction with the marketing department, produce print, electronic and multimedia communications including brochures and Web pages relating to the annual fund and other fundraising campaigns;
    • Assist in overall fundraising efforts as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commitment to Grameen Foundation’s mission;
  • Proven track record in online fundraising and direct mail solicitation.
  • Experience in print and electronic communications and project management;
  • Excellent technology skills (office software, donor databases, and Web editing);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • A proven team player;
  • Excellent organizational and human relations skills in a cross-cultural environment;
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, and work gracefully under pressure.

 

Preferred Skills:

Photoshop, HTML

Background in international development or microfinance

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree

Five to seven years related experience;

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort. This position may occasionally require physical effort to lift and transport boxes weighing no more than 50 pounds.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting or training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.
